Unearthing What God Has Placed Within You
INTRODUCTION
There are things God has placed within us…
Gifts.
Talents.
Quiet stirrings of purpose.
Some are already visible, recognised, used, and growing.
Others remain hidden, not yet fully understood, still forming beneath the surface.
It is tempting to measure ourselves by what is seen.
To compare, to strive, fight, or even to rush ahead.
But not everything given is ready to be used yet...
And not everything ready is meant to be revealed immediately. Wait!
The gifts of God are not only given…
they are shaped.
Formed through seasons.
Refined through waiting.
Humbled through surrender.
And so we learn not to grasp at them —
but to walk humbly with what we carry.
Trusting the Potter’s hand.
Scripture
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
Romans 11:29 (NKJV)

THE RIGHT SEASON
I have outwitted myself
Ran a race with no end in sight
Jumped into a pool without a bottom
Entered a motor race with no fuel
But lived to tell the story.
Can you run a marathon without training?
Become a lifeguard without learning to swim?
Become a sous chef without culinary skills?
Be a friend, lacking love?
Preparation is key for all we do
Plan, have a goal
Start slowly, consider a beginning and end.
Evaluate… continue or not?
Starting over isn’t final
It’s just a new beginning
It’s not your fault, you are not a failure
You are learning.
Think again
Don’t lose hope
Good things are worth waiting for
Don’t force it and risk ruin
It will happen at the right time
At the right place
In the right season of life.
Reflection
Not everything placed within us
is meant to be released immediately.
Some gifts are revealed early:
clear, strong, and quickly recognised.
Others take time.
They sit quietly within us,
growing unseen,
being shaped by experience,
refined by correction,
and softened by humility.
It is easy to assume that ability alone is enough.
That because we can, we should.
But wisdom teaches us otherwise.
A gift used too soon can become strained.
A calling forced too early can become burdensome, you suffer burnout and the vision dies.
A talent handled without humility can lose its fragrance.
God, in His kindness, does not simply give;
He forms.
He allows seasons to do their work:
the waiting,
the stretching,
the quiet refining.
And in those seasons, something deeper is produced:
Discernment.
Patience.
Dependence on Him.
The question is not only: What has God given me?
But also: What is He doing with it now?
Some things are ready to be used.
Others are still being prepared.
And both are held safely
in His hands.
Selah... Pause and Consider
What has God placed within you that may still be forming?
Have you felt pressure to rush what God is still shaping?
Where might He be inviting you to trust His timing more deeply?
THE INVITATION
If this reflection has stirred something within you
and you would like prayer in this area,
please feel free to send in a prayer request.
It would be my privilege to share it with a small group of trusted intercessors
who will lift you before the Lord. You are not alone in your journey
Looking Ahead
Next week, we take a step closer…
Not simply exploring what we do,
but understanding who we are.
Before purpose is expressed,
worth must be established.
Before the calling unfolds,
there is a quiet foundation already laid.
We will reflect on how it all began
the early stirrings, the hidden beginnings,
and the gentle ways God first reveals what He has placed within us.
And we will consider a question that has been thoughtfully raised:
Is there a difference between a person’s purpose and their worth?
A question that invites us not to strive…
but to see more clearly.
