Today we honour not only biological fathers, but also the grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, mentors, spiritual fathers, and father figures who have stepped up to the plate and helped guide, protect, encourage, and nurture others along life’s journey.
Your influence may be greater than you realise. May God bless and strengthen you as you continue to run your race and leave a legacy of faith, love, and perseverance for those who follow behind.

Poem – The Right Season
I have outwitted myself
Ran a race with no end in sight
Jumped into a pool without a bottom
Entered a motor race with no fuel
But lived to tell the story.
Can you run a marathon without training?
Become a lifeguard without learning to swim?
Become a sous chef without culinary skills?
Be a friend, lacking love?
Preparation is key for all we do
Plan, have a goal
Start slowly, consider a beginning and end.
Evaluate… continue or not?
Starting over isn’t final
It’s just a new beginning
Think again
Don’t lose hope
Good things are worth waiting for
Don’t force it and risk ruin
It will happen at the right time At the right place
In the right season of life.
Reflection
Life teaches us that growth cannot be rushed. Every season has its purpose: learning, waiting, trying again. Starting over is not failure; it is courage. What God has for you will come in His perfect timing; in the right time, the right place, the right season of life.
Time moves whether we are ready or not, urging us forward through seasons of joy, challenge, and change. When we look back and wonder if our moments mattered God reminds us: our times are in His hands. Nothing is wasted, nothing is overlooked. What feels finished to us is often where His work begins.
Have you found yourself running a race where you feel you have no hope of winning, let alone finishing?
You feel exhausted.
You wish there was a pause button.
You chide yourself for ever starting.
If you could, you would turn back time. In fact, dreams of comfort depict you as a time traveller. You change the past to affect the future.
But then you wake up to reality.
The dream offers revision.
Reality offers endurance.
The dream says, “Go back.”
Reality says, “Go on.”
The starting gun cannot be recalled.
The miles already travelled cannot be erased.
The stumbles, regrets, and wrong turns remain part of your story.
Yet so does the grace that has carried you this far.
You are not asked to run yesterday’s race again.
It is easy to become discouraged when we spend our time looking into someone else's lane.
We see another person's speed and forget our own calling.
We see another person's gifts and overlook the grace God has given us.
We see another person's season and fail to recognise the purpose of our own.
Yet the Christian life was never intended to be a competition.
The Lord has not asked us to run every race.
He has asked us to run the race marked out for us.
Different stories.
The same Saviour.
Different abilities.
The same grace.
Different seasons.
The same promise.
Different burdens.
The same strength.
Different nations.
The same King.
One day, every runner who has trusted Christ will stand before the same Lord. The goal is not to finish first. The goal is to finish faithful. To finish well.
Faithfulness is measured not by how closely we resemble another runner, but by how faithfully we follow the path God has given us.
Let me ask you a question: Have you ever found that looking into someone else's lane has caused you to stumble, trip and fall?
There are moments when the road stretches endlessly before you and the temptation comes to sit down by the roadside and give up.
Not because the goal is unworthy.
Not because the prize is not worth having.
But because the journey has proved more costly than you expected.
Yet the Lord does not ask you to carry tomorrow’s burdens today.
He does not require strength for the entire race in a single moment.
He provides grace for this step.
And then the next.
And then the next.
We often long for a time machine, but God offers something far more useful: His presence in the present.
We cannot rewrite yesterday.
We cannot run tomorrow’s miles.
We can only be faithful with today.
So lift your eyes.
Take a breath.
And take the next step.
Run your race.
Endure.
Finish well.

• Are you comparing your lane with someone else’s, or remaining faithful to your own?
• Is there a burden, disappointment, or distraction that is hindering your progress?
• What would taking the next faithful step look like this week?
• Looking back, where can you see God’s grace carrying you through a season you once thought you would never survive?
• If you were to encourage another weary runner today, what would you say?
Looking Forward: The Harvest

The harvest is rarely visible at the beginning of the race.
Yet every faithful step, every seed sown, every act of obedience, and every season endured contributes to what God is preparing.
A seed does not become a harvest overnight.
It is planted, covered, watered, and often forgotten by everyone except the Gardener.
